Are you ready for the arrival of April? Not only are the days getting longer, but they are getting warmer too. You know what that means, don’t you? People will be hungering to get outside. It’s no wonder that April is therefore recognized as Earth Month. And there are plenty of activities to participate in over the course of the month.

Earth Month

Earth Hour

It all starts this weekend (a little early, but worth celebrating regardless), with Earth Hour. On Saturday, March 30th at 8:30 pm, take a moment to recognize what the Earth means to you. Flick the lights off for an hour (or more!) and reconnect to nature without the help of electricity. Support Earth Hour for you, your family, your community, the planet—#Connect2Earth

Earth Hour is a great start to month-long celebrations of the Earth. It is more than just celebrations though. We need to build conversations, take steps to protect and clean up our planet, and chart a course to make sure the Earth is healthy for generations to come. Luckily, there are plenty of activities around London, Ontario to get you started!

Go Wild Grow Wild

What better place to start the conversation and gain some knowledge than at the Go Wild Grow Wild show at the Metroland Agriplex on April 6th, 2019 from 9:30 am – 4 pm. Learn more about environmental and sustainability programs in a fun family setting. Whether you are a gardener, nature enthusiast, adventurer, or just want to learn more, there is something for everyone at the Go Wild Grow Wild Show. It’s all about green living in the Carolinian Zone!

12 Days of Cleaning

The 12 Days of Cleaning runs from April 16th thru to April 27, 2019 in London, Ontario. It incorporates the 20-Minute Makeover on Friday, April 26th, London Clean & Green Community-Wide Clean Up Day on Saturday, April 27th, and plenty of days throughout the 12 days to inspire you to clean up your home, neighbourhood, and wider community.

Earth Day

When it comes to Earth Day, you have even more options this year. Around the globe, April 22nd is Earth Day. The focus is on recognizing and celebrating the environment, with this year’s theme being Protect Our Species.

This year, London is hosting Earth Day London on Sunday, April 28 at Harris Park with water festival activities, giant mandala creation, environmental displays, and plenty of family fun.

What are you doing to celebrate Earth Month? Maybe it’s time you cleaned up your home and community! Remember that Load of Rubbish can help you dispose of your junk in an environmentally responsible way once you are done with your cleanup. Ask us how!
