GET THE FROCK OUT:
Add Clothing Donations to Your Junk Removal Pickup
Fall is around the corner. Back to School sales are now on and it feels like a New Year, in more ways than one. 2020 has been packed with surprises, but now is the time to step into the new season and own it. And new seasons are a great time to get rid of last season’s old items which no longer serve you. Namely, let’s get the frock out!
You know the ones. The frocks you no longer wear, the dresses which no longer fit, or the pantsuits you never wore in the first place. It’s time to get that old clothing out of your wardrobe. And the best way to do that is by adding it to your existing Load of Rubbish pickup.
Purge Old Clothing

Time to purge your wardrobe! Don’t stop at frocks. Get rid of shorts, tank tops, and skirts you didn’t wear this past summer. Take a look at pants, tops, and jackets in your Fall collection. Did you wear them last season? Will you honestly wear them again?
Now is the perfect time to assess your wardrobe. Check articles of clothing for rips, tears, and stains. If you have gained or lost weight during the last few months, try items on to see if they still fit. There is no point in keeping them if they don’t, as then you won’t have room for clothes that actually do fit.
Why do this now? School is set to resume in a few short weeks and this year, that looks a little different. Social distancing might be part of the plan, but we always see an uptick in illnesses once school is back in on a regular basis, let alone in the time of Covid. You will already be washing everyone’s masks, but do you want to worry about squashing germy clothes into overpacked closets? How about you clear them while you have time.
Get in the Game

You can even make a game of it with the kids, if that makes it easier. Have them empty their drawers on their bed and then race to find a blue item to put on, followed by something yellow (great to teach colours to kindergarten age children too!). Put a box or hamper in throwing distance and have them see if they can make a basket with their discard pile. If they can’t find a matching sock or shoe, toss them too! When the box is full, close it up, and add it to your Load of Rubbish pickup pile. Make it fun for everyone and see how easy it can be.
Didn’t know Load of Rubbish collected clothing? We sure do! They are a regular donation when we stop at thrift stores. Not sure what else we collect? Check our website for a list of What We Remove. See you soon!
