At Load of Rubbish, we do our part to keep as many items out of the landfill as possible. We collect fridges, water coolers, and other refrigerant items and have their freon professionally drained, before disposing of them to scrap metal recyclers. We send electronics, like televisions, computers, printers, and other devices to approved Ontario Electronic Stewardship recyclers, where precious metals, glass and plastics are retrieved from the items before they are reused to make new articles. Metal goes to scrap metal recyclers. Other items which still hold value get donated to charity organizations in the community. At the end of the day, very little of what is collected is actually disposed of at the landfill. We aim to reduce, reuse, and recycle whenever possible.

That being said, while Load of Rubbish collects most items, there are some items we do not collect.

Hazardous Items Load of Rubbish Does NOT Collect;

  • Paints
  • Oils
  • Asbestos
  • Propane tanks
  • Biological waste
  • Any other toxic substances

Hazardous items require special insurance for companies to transport and dispose of them and Load of Rubbish does not carry these.

Also, there are other items which Load of Rubbish collects, but because of regulations, we must dispose of. These include safety items, like car seats, booster seats, and cribs. By law, you cannot sell, donate, or give away these items if manufactured before a certain date. Most donation centres no longer accept these items either, regardless of the condition of the item due to liability issues. They go straight to landfill.

Load of Rubbish does our best to minimize waste. This goes so far as to plan what items go in our trucks when, as we collect them from customers. In order to ensure all items collected make it to the appropriate destination, we strategically load them when putting them on our trucks. Waste materials go in the truck last, so as to dispose of them without having to sort through salvageable items. This saves time, space on the truck and helps us work smarter in the long run. Plus, it ultimately helps save you money, as our pricing is based on load size. A strategically loaded truck makes for smaller loads and less waste; good for you and the environment.

So if you find yourself with unwanted materials in your home or business, make the environmentally conscious choice and contact Load of Rubbish to help get rid of your junk. We do our best to minimize waste and reduce the cost to you to dispose of it. Through our dedicated service to clients and the broader community as a whole, Load of Rubbish strives to keep our planet clean and beautiful for generations to come by recycling over 80% of the junk we collect. Help us help the planet today.
