Load of Rubbish was started as a junk removal company in 2011. That is the category you will find us under on the Better Business Bureau website and in the Yellow Pages. We are listed as a waste management company on Facebook though and we like to think that category is more accurate, as much of what we collect is not straight garbage.
Why Choose Load of Rubbish?
Why is a label important though? It helps people find you, for one thing. Call Load of Rubbish when you are looking to get rid of your junk—ie. junk removal! But waste management takes ‘management’ into consideration. We like to consider what the best means of disposal is for your junk. Can it be recycled? Would someone reuse it? Is there another company we can partner with to reduce our waste footprint and keep more stuff out of the landfill? Usually the answer to those questions is yes.
Recycle and Reuse with Confidence
Realistically, you don’t need to hire Load of Rubbish for your services. You could list reusable items on a classified site. After taking pictures of your unwanted stuff and crafting a post to advertise it, all you have to do is sift through the (hopefully tonnes of) emails that respond. Once you agree on a price and time for pickup (or drop-off if the person isn’t able to come to you), then an exchange is made. If you can agree on a time and date. And if the person shows up. I don’t know how many times people don’t show, but I’ve heard it happens. If the person is a no-show, then the process starts all over again. Time is money and that is frustrating. Of course the other thing you might want to consider is the idea of a stranger coming to your home. If the idea of that leaves you uncomfortable, you might want to pick a mutually agreed upon spot to meet. You can’t be too cautious in this day and age.
Did we mention that Load of Rubbish has an A+ Accreditation with the BBB? And that customer satisfaction is of utmost importance to us? Professionalism is our mandate. And that takes the fear and guesswork out of getting rid of your stuff.
Of course you can also put your junk to the curb. There is a three-container limit now mind you. So if you have more than that, you have to take it to the landfill yourself. Fees range from $8 for anything less than 100 kg, up to $75 per tonne for anything over 1000 kilos. Some articles are taken at some locations, but not everything is accepted at all locations. Confirm what the landfill accepts before you head out to save yourself a trip. The only problem with disposing of items in the garbage is of course that it is not recycled or reused. Did we mention that we sort our loads to ensure that happens with everything we collect? And that we base our fees on the size of the load we collect? Plus, we offer full estate cleanups for those with a lot of stuff to get rid of.
So not only does Load of Rubbish have a professional reputation, do our best to recycle and donate as much as we can, and take the hassle out of your junk removal, but we also give back to our community. We have donated assistive devices to the London Consistory Club, children’s books to school used book sales, and recently wrote a cheque for over $1000 to Grace Cafe in St Thomas from the proceeds of a charity garage sale. The Grace Cafe is a registered charity serving free lunch, coffee and clothing in a cozy setting, and we thought they would appreciate a little hand up before the holidays.
